CALTRANS WILLOW SPRINGS PHASE 3 |
After 12 years of operation the Outback FX inverters were wearing out. The moving parts- fans and relays- had experienced maximum cycles and were failing. The first two sets of batteries had been cycled hard and were no longer viable. A four Radian system with new charge controllers and Deka flooded batteries were installed. Miller Solar did all of the design to shoe-horn the new electronics into existing cabinets. A new building was constructed adjacent to the existing building to hold the batteries. |
New battery array.

Wiring harness with custom bus bars.

Every lead the leaves this buiding must be fused. These are 400A Class T fuses mounted on the ladder rack.

Close up of negative bus bar assembly.
|
The breakers in the Outback GSLC cabinets are configured with wiring studs on the back, making them hard to wire. We modify the dead-front with a hinge at the bottom to make them easier to access.
|
Here is the completed main cabinet with one Radian, the charge controllers, a GSLC configured as a recombiner and the AC distribution.
|
Here is the interior of the secondary cabinet with 3 Radians. These are existing cabinets with active cooling.
|
The PV leads are up-sized to reduce voltage drop. A custom wire reducer was fabricated to allow a more reasonable wire gauge to run inside of the raceways. |
