SLOTTING pvc

Most of our wire routing techniques include the use of slotted PVC. PVC is cheap, readily available, easy to work with and corrosion resistant. We just need to get a uniform slot into the pipe. Here's how.

Setup on table saw. Machine is a standard Delta 10" contractor's saw. Blades are spaced with washers. A Jorgensen Style J clamp creates a hold-down for the conduit as it is run.

Running pipe through the saw. You have to cut the bell-ends off prior to milling. This operation can be done solo but an extra person helps. It takes about 30 seconds to slot a pipe. Afterwords, the pipe needs to be de-burred with a standard de-burring tool, a time commitment of another couple of minutes.
